Week Nine due Wednesday April 7

Photography IV

For this week, feel free to select images from past, future or traveling exhibitions as well as current exhibitions.

I have posted notes from chapter 4 and chapter 5 on the metroconnect class site, under files. Click through the links to websites for both chapters.

Select any two images from any two different sites for chapter 4 and two images from two different sites for chapter 5.

For each image, write briefly how you "read" (interpret) specific signifiers within the images and how that interpretation relates to a specific concept from the reading.

Then, as always, post three of your own very recent images and explain briefly why you selected each of the three images.

For this week limit yourself to the following resources:

For this week, feel free to select images from past, future or travelling exhibitions as well as current exhibitions.

Now, select any three images from three different sites that relate specifically to the concepts and theories in your work.

Post these three images on your blog with a link back to the site or exhibition.

And very specifically and clearly state what the theory or concept is that you relate to this exhibition or individual artist's work.

Locate any written critique or review of this artist's work or of the exhibition and cite it.

Then, as always, post three of your own very recent images and explain briefly why you selected each of the three images.

For this week only, limit yourself to the following resources:

http://www.moma.org/

http://whitney.org/

http://www.tate.org.uk/

Each site has its difficulties in navigation that might present a challenge or two. For this week only, feel free to select images from past, future or travelling exhibitions as well as current exhibitions.

Again, as always, select any three images from three different sites (unless you already finished your blog from the Whitney site).

Post these three images on your blog with a link back to the site or exhibition.

And give a very brief explanation of why you selected each image.

Then, as always, post three of your own very recent images and explain briefly why you selected each of the three images.

Photography V:

Continue to explore the websites of the artists from your list of your favourite most famous artists.

Then for each artist answer the following:
1. What functional elements do they use in the structure of the website (statement, how work is divided up, navigation, what is on home page, scrolling or no scrolling, any other functional element)?
2. What design features can you name (font, color, form, font color, decorative elements)?
3. What does this presentation itself say about the artist (without taking into account the work or resume)?
4. What do you like about the website and what do you dislike about the website?

Then, post any three RECENT images of your own. State why you selected each of the three images
